FREE LISTENING

A few years ago I joined an inspiring international organization known as Urban Confessional, which calls itself a free listening movement.  They believe that people need to be heard and that there is value in simply listening to someone.  Their mission is to listen.  They make themselves available for anyone who needs to be heard.  The guidelines are simple.

There is a wonderful quote by David Augsburger:  Being heard is so close to being loved that most people can’t tell the difference.

Last spring my husband, a young student of mine and I practiced Free Listening at the Peace and Justice Earth Day Festival at Victory Park in Stockton, CA.  It was a deeply moving and rewarding experience.  I plan to have a “booth” again this year and invite anyone interested in joining me to contact me. We will have a brief introductory meeting before the event.  The date is April 26th, 2020.

I will have more information uploaded soon.  Meanwhile, to learn more about Urban Confessional, click this link.

Deep Listening

I have added this section to my website because listening is an essential part of the Focusing experience and therefore these practices are mutually supportive.

I teach classes in Deep Listening which help with both Free Listening and Focusing, as well as being a life enhancing skill and vehicle for creating peace in our relationships and our world.
